Neuroendocrine Tumor Management:  The Era of Personalized Medicine is the theme of the symposium.  Guests will have the opportunity to hear from three of the leading carcinoid/NET cancer specialists in the United States and internationally.  Dr. Richard R.P. Warner, Director of the Center for Carcinoid and Neuroendocrine Tumors at Mt. Sinai and Medical Director of the Carcinoid Cancer Foundation, will give introductory remarks.  The guest speakers will be Dr. Edward M. Wolin, Co-Director of the Carcinoid and Neuroendocrine Tumor Program at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles, California, and Dr. Eugene A. Woltering, James D. Rives Professor of Surgery and Neurosciences at Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center in New Orleans, Louisiana.

Carcinoid and NETs in 2011: Now, New, Next will be the focus of Dr. Wolin’s presentation.  What are the current treatments for carcinoid/NET patients and what is expected in the coming years?  What is the role of personalized and biologically targeted chemotherapy in NET treatment?  How do somatostain analogs work and why are they important for NET patients?
