Maureen Coleman, President of CNETS Canada, has announced that videos from the May 2010 international carcinoid and NET cancer conference for patients and medical professionals are now online at http://cnetscanada.org. According to Ms. Coleman, “This conference represents a coming together of the Carcinoid Neuroendocrine Tumor Society Canada’s mission and vision through the conference theme, Neuroendocrine Cancers: Networks of Expertise.” The conference featured distinguished neuroendocrine cancer experts from Canada, the United States, the United Kingdom, Ireland, the Netherlands, and Sweden. All lectures except for two are reproduced here. Those lectures will be released at a later date.
Topics covered during the conference included the genetics of NETs (neuroendocrine tumors), what’s new in NETs research, the importance of clinical trials and their relevance for GI neuroendocrine tumors, interventional radiology, treatments such as PRRT and LU177, and circulating markers and prognostic indicators of NETS.
Guidelines for the management of neuroendocrine tumors were presented by representatives from the major carcinoid/NET medical societies: NANETS (North America), ENETS (Europe), UKINETS (United Kingdom and Ireland), and from a Canadian National Expert Group.
