C. Christofer Juhlin, MD, PhD, pathologist and Associate Professor of Experimental Pathology at Karolinska Institutet in Sweden, will be the featured guest for CCF’s Facebook Live Luncheon with the Experts on Thursday, May 5, 2022 from 12 noon to 1 pm, Eastern Time. Dr. Juhlin is a Senior Consultant in Surgical Pathology at Karolinska University Hospital in Stockholm, with a special focus on endocrine pathology.
Dr. Juhlin’s research team focuses on delivering improved diagnostic and prognostic tools for tumors derived from endocrine tissues such as the thyroid and parathyroid glands in the neck as well as for abdominal neoplasias such as adrenal and neuroendocrine tumors. The physiology of normal and hyperfunctioning endocrine glands is also studied. These research projects are continuing collaborative projects with researchers at Cancer Centrum Karolinska, as well as the endocrine surgery division at the Karolinska University Hospital in Solna and the Yale Endocrine Neoplasia Laboratory at Yale University in Connecticut. From 2013-2014, Dr. Juhlin was a visiting research scholar at Yale School of Medicine.
Among Dr. Juhlin’s most recent publications is “Second-Generation Neuroendocrine Immunohistochemical Markers: Reflections from Clinical Implementation,” published in Biology. These markers can help identify the site of primary neuroendocrine tumors as well as helping to ensure a proper diagnosis for NETs and poorly differentiated neuroendocrine carcinoma.
