The Big Apple Noids support group has announced the second Luncheon with the Experts on Sunday, March 3, 2013. This program, initiated and sponsored by the Big Apple Noids in collaboration with the Carcinoid Cancer Foundation, brings together carcinoid and neuroendocrine tumor (NET) patients with physicians to discuss issues ranging from NET cancer treatments and surgery to follow-up testing and new developments.
Following an extremely successful first luncheon, the maximum number of participants has been expanded to 28 per meeting. Luncheons will be held in private dining areas of restaurants and other small settings in the greater metropolitan New York and tri-state area. While there is no charge for admission, interested individuals must register by email or telephone on a first-come, first-served basis. Participants pay for their own lunches.
The Sunday, March 3 luncheon at 12:15 pm will be held in a private room at Carinos Ristorante Italiano at 1710 2nd Avenue in New York City, New York. To see a menu and read more about the restaurant click here.
The experts for the luncheon will be Richard R.P. Warner, MD, Director of the Center for Carcinoid and Neuroendocrine Tumors at Mount Sinai Hospital in New York City and Medical Director of the Carcinoid Cancer Foundation, Michail K. Shafir, MD, Clinical Professor of Surgery, Surgical Oncology, at Mount Sinai Hospital; and Michelle K. Kim, MD, gastroenterologist and endoscopic ultrasound (EUS) at Mount Sinai Hospital.
For further information and to register, please contact Emily Zuckerberg, support group leader for the Big Apple Noids, at ezuckerber@aol.com or 917-689-1980. Patients may register for themselves and one guest. It is anticipated there will be a waiting list. Due to the small, personalized nature of the luncheons, only those who have registered will be able to attend.
SPECIAL NOTE: As of February 25, this luncheon has been postponed and we will provide additional information when it is rescheduled. Please contact Emily Zuckerberg (contact details above) for more information about the Luncheon with the Experts series.
