Inspiration for Carcinoid and Neuroendocrine Cancer Patients

If you are a carcinoid or neuroendocrine cancer patient seeking inspiration, there is a wonderful article in the Spring 2010 issue of Cancer Fighters Thrive TM entitled, “Dr. Bernie Siegel’s Very Simple Secrets of Happiness,” by Bernie S. Siegel, MD, Exceptional Cancer Patients.  In the article, Dr. Siegel outlines 4 steps that can bring about true happiness:

  • Take responsibility for your mistakes
  • Stay in charge of your thoughts and feelings
  • Have faith that you can overcome obstacles
  • Deal constructively with criticism

He also offers tips on how to accomplish each of these 4 steps ranging from “Forgive yourself first” to “Judge each problem as an opportunity to grow” to “Be open to redirection.”

“We can create internal joy at any time,” says Dr. Siegel, “by embracing the talents and opportunities we’re given instead of clinging to the pain we’ve suffered in the past.”
