Congratulations to carcinoid/neuroendocrine tumor specialist Dr. M. Sue O’Dorisio of the University of Iowa who is one of five researchers across the country selected to receive a $100,000 “springboard grant to jumpstart a promising investigation.” The grants were given by Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation, a nonprofit dedicated to cancer research. Each of the projects chosen has “high impact potential for childhood cancer research.” Dr. O’Dorisio’s research will focus on neuroendocrine tumors which “constitute an unrecognized health threat to children and young adults” and could lead to the development of new treatment options.
