The live program offers viewers the opportunity to ask questions of Dr. Anthony and Ms. Bean and will cover living with carcinoid syndrome and how to manage breakthrough symptoms. This special program is made possible with sponsorship by Sun Pharmaceuticals Industries Inc.
The program will begin at 12 noon Eastern Time on CCF’s Facebook page, https://www.facebook.com/Carcinoid/ There is no need to register and a link is not required.
“Carcinoid syndrome can have a significant impact on someone’s quality of life,” says Dr. Anthony. This can affect not only their “personal sphere but also their professional sphere.” Dr. Anthony has three decades of experience in oncology and a special focus in working with neuroendocrine cancer patients. “It takes a village to treat cancer,” he notes, stressing the value of multidisciplinary team care for cancer patients.
Dr. Anthony’s clinical interests include drug development ranging from Phase I to III clinical trials. Agents targeting specific cellular signaling pathways and injectable radiolabeled compounds make up his past and current clinical investigative interests. Dr. Anthony has previously been on the medical faculties at Vanderbilt University and the Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center in New Orleans.
Melanie Bean was diagnosed with a gastrointestinal NET in 2002 following a GI bleed. A mother of three and grandmother of five, she lives in southeast Tennessee. By profession, Ms. Bean worked as a nurse until 2015.
The Facebook Live program will be hosted by B. Rain Bennett a longtime CCF filmmaker and dear friend of the NET community.
