The UK Markey Cancer Center is home to the region’s first multidisciplinary program dedicated to carcinoid and neuroendocrine tumors.
Effective March 2021, UK Markey Cancer Center and the Kentucky Children’s Hospital have launched a new Pediatric NET clinical program dedicated to neuroendocrine tumors in children. The program co-leaders are Aman Chauhan, MD; Caryn E. Sorge, MD; and David J. Worhunsky, MD. The pediatric NET cases are discussed at both pediatric and dedicated NET tumor boards, leveraging the multidisciplinary expertise of surgery, pediatric and medical oncology, nuclear medicine, pathology, genetics, radiology, and social work. This team-based approach – stressing individualized patient care, patient education and research – is expected to result in better care for patients, improving both their prognosis and their quality of life.
To schedule a new patient appointment, contact Joy Haney, New Patient Coordinator, at 859-257-4488.
