Dr. Amit Tirosh is a senior endocrinologist, specializing in the treatment of neuroendocrine tumors, and Head of Neuroendocrine Tumors Services at the Institute of Endocrinology, Sheba Medical Center. Dr. Tirosh specializes in inherited syndromes related to the development of neuroendocrine tumors (NETs), serves as a member of the National Institutes of Health in the United States of America in the field of MEN1 syndrome; he is a member of the team of international experts on VHL and co-author of guidelines for treating patients with VHL. Dr. Tirosh is also the contact person for patients at the multi-disciplinary VHL clinic at the Sheba Medical Center. He is part of a tumor board that meets every two weeks, discussing the treatment and follow up of 30-40 NET patients a month.
Dr. Tirosh conducts research in a laboratory specializing in bioinformatics of endocrine cancer in general and of neuroendocrine tumors in particular. As the Head of the endocrinology research laboratory, he maintains active collaborations with research groups in the United States, Italy, Germany and with researchers from the Weizmann Institute of Science.
He sees neuroendocrine tumor patients diagnosed by biopsy and will also do diagnosis. He is a member of the Israeli Society of Endocrinology, the American Endocrine Society, and ENETS, the European Neuroendocrine Tumor Society.
