Los Angeles Neuroendocrine Tumor Patient Education Conference 2016

Join neuroendocrine tumor (NET) patients and family members, NET cancer expert physicians, and members of the healthcare community on Saturday, June 25, 2016 for a free, one-day conference at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles.  The conference is hosted by Cedars-Sinai in cooperation with LACNETS, the Los Angeles Neuroendocrine Tumor Society, and the Neuroendocrine Tumor Research Foundation, NETRF.

The day-long conference is scheduled from 8:30 am to 4:30 pm and pre-conference, a special NETs 101 session will be offered by Dr. Andrew Hendifar and Dr. Farin Amersi from Cedars-Sinai.  Following an introduction by Giovanna Imbesi, LACNETS, NET expert Dr. Edward M. Wolin, Director of the Neuroendocrine Tumor Program at Montefiore Einstein Center for Cancer Care in New York, will talk about many exciting advances in Year in Review: 2015-2016.

From Diagnosis to What’s Next: Multi-Disciplinary Team Approach will feature presentations by Cedars-Sinai NET physicians:

  • Surgery Options for NETs:  Dr. Nicholas Nissen
  • Liver Directed Therapy for NETs – Embolizations:  Dr. H. Gabriel Lipshutz
  • Medical Oncology Advances for NETs:  Dr. Andrew Hendifar
  • Double Balloon Endoscopy:  Dr. Farin Amersi

Presentations on Advances in Imaging Ga-68; results from the NETTER-1 trial for PRRT, peptide receptor radionuclide therapy;  and the Endocrinology Perspective on NETs – Biomarkers will round out the morning sessions.

Following lunch, Dr. Eric Liu, who heads the Neuroendocrine Tumor Institute at the Rocky Mountain Cancer Center in Denver, Colorado, will lead a panel discussion on the Optimal Treatment Sequencing for NET patients.

The afternoon sessions will include Dr. Pamela Kunz of Stanford Cancer Center talking about Immunotherapy; Ron Hollander from NETRF discussing Funding NET Research and a panel focusing on Living with NETs.  A Question and Answer session will conclude the conference presentations.
