The Bea Lehming Memorial Lectures - Virginia

Internationally known carcinoid/neuroendocrine cancer experts Thomas M.  O'Dorisio, MD and M. Sue O'Dorisio, MD, will be the featured speakers for The Bea Lehming Memorial Lectures in Falls Church, Virginia on Saturday, November 15. The Bea Lehming Memorial Lectures are made possible with contributions form the Carcinoid Cancer Awareness Network (CCAN) and the Captial Area Carcinoid Survivors (CACS) members. Beatrix Lehming led the effort to found the CACS support group in 2001 and served for many years as president of the group.  The lectures are dedicated to Bea, "with much love and respect" as the "heart and soul of CACS."  There is no charge for lecture attendance; due to limited seating reservations are encouraged.  For more information and to register, click here.

Now in its third year, Run for The Stripes (click here for flyer) raises awareness for neuroendocrine cancers and funds for NET research at the University of Penn Medicine's Abramson Cancer Center.  The 5K run/walk will be held at the Philadelphia Zoo. CCAN's 2014 "Strides for Stripes" Zebra Walk, NY

The Carcinoid Cancer Awareness Network (CCAN) will hold its 6th Annual "Strides for Stripes" Zebra Walk on Saturday, November 1 at 10:30 am at Eisenhower Park Field 6A in East Meadow, NY.  The walk helps raise money for programs that assist NET cancer patients and brings about awareness of carcinoid and NET cancers. Water and energy bars will be provided and a light lunch will be served.  Entertainment will be provided by Undercover from 12 noon to 2 pm. Carcinoid/NET Patient Education Day - State of Washington

The PNW Carcinoid/NET Support Group will present a day of learning and support for carcinoid/NET patients and their loved ones at UW Medicine in Seattle, Washington on Saturday, October 25.  The featured speakers are Veena Shankaran, MD on "Systemic Therapy Option for Advanced Neuroendocrine Tumors" and Flavio Rocha, MD on "The Role of Local Therapy for Metastatic Carcinoid and PNETs."  There will also be presentations by a nutritionist, a yoga and meditation practitioner, and a nurse educator. Philadelphia Patient Education Conference, 4th Annual Focus on Neuroendocrine Tumors
