Carcinoid Cancer Treatments: New Surgical Approaches and Treatments
Dr. Yi-Zarn Wang has been working with neuroendocrine cancer patients at Ochsner-Kenner Medical Center in Louisiana since 2006. He will be a guest speaker at the Wellness House, Hinsdale (Chicago area), Illinois on May 13th. Dr. Wang will discuss surgical approaches and new treatments for carcinoid cancer. Dr. Wang is the first surgeon to apply lymphatic mapping to define surgical resection margins and sparing the ileocecal valve, when conditions permit, for patients with midgut carcinoid. He will also talk about applying radioguided (RGS) to improve NETs cytoreductive surgery, optimal surgical procedures in treating rectal carcinoid, and forsee some possible future innovations or modifications in the surgical treatment of NETs. In addition to earning an MD from the Oregon Health Sciences University School of Medicine, Dr. Wang holds a DDS degree from the School of Dentistry, Kaohsiung Medical College, Kaohsiung, Taiwan, Republic of China. His dental degree has given him insight into adapting dentistry procedures to surgical methods that can access tumors in precarious locations. Read more about Dr. Wang.
